SEAPA’s USA Road Show: Advancing Oyster Farming Technology & Global Connections
November 7, 2024Over the past few years, SEAPA has made significant strides in developing products designed to empower oyster farmers. From the success of the GTX basket to advancements in the REVO system, we’ve worked tirelessly to innovate and meet the evolving needs of the industry.
The GTX basket, launched in 2023, has quickly become a game-changer for oyster growers worldwide. Initially available with a 12mm mesh, its design further optimizes oyster movement, resulting in improved shape and meat content. Following its overwhelming success, we’ve expanded the range to include a 6mm mesh option, which maintains the benefits of SEAPA’s signature oval shape while offering farmers greater versatility in oyster growth stages. This enhancement reflects our ongoing commitment to listening to farmer feedback and refining our products to deliver exceptional results.
Our REVO system represents the next frontier in oyster farming, introducing a revolutionary level of adaptability to manage varying water conditions. This project has been under development and trial for almost eight years, with each trial offering new insights and adjustments based on real-life scenarios. The system features removable baskets, offering the flexibility to farm on intertidal longlines, or in deep water, and adaptable to land-based processing. By firmly putting control in farmers’ hands, REVO enables more strategic planning and resource management, regardless of environmental challenges.
Early trials, including successful pilot programs in Japan, have demonstrated significant efficiencies and exceptional results. The ability to shift seamlessly between water and land operations offers resilience against unpredictable conditions. (Learn more about our trials in Japan here)
While the full REVO system is set to be launched in 2025, extensive trials and collaborations highlight its transformative potential. REVO is not just a product, it’s a new approach to oyster farming.
